(Above right is an internet photo of the Wolverine Dachshund Club's namesake. Michigan's nickname is "The Wolverine State" though its state animal is the white-tail deer. Despite popular belief, the wolverine is not related to the wolf but is actually a member of the weasel family. Like the weasel, the wolverine is seldom seen. They are clever and most known for their aggressiveness and fearlessness. The name wolverine means glutton but the wolverine does not eat more than he needs. If he kills a deer or caribou he will spray the carcass with musk, bury it, and finish it later.
